Description

In 1897, some master swordsmiths of the Austrian Tyrol joined together to found what has become today the STUBAI brand, synonymous of high quality tools for woodcarving and woodturning.

Woodcarving is among the most enjoyable hobbies because one does not see the time fly. And since the tool used is often considered to be the extension of the hand, it then becomes essential to be able to count on quality tools.

Series 55 offered by STUBAI have all the required features:

  • Firstly the total length (24 to 28cm) facilitates the work with 2 hands, thus offering a better control and more security
  • Hand forged blade guarantees highest quality and a long tool life
  • Top quality special steel alloy allows high edge-holding ability
  • Special heat treatment that guaranties a hardness index of 58-60 HRC (Rockwell)
  • Finely ground inside sweep for easy sharpening
  • Hand sharpened cutting edge ready to be used
  • Long blade fully polished with sweep number stamped
  • Octagonal beech wood handle for a firm and comfortable grip. Available in 2 lengths: 125mm (25mm dia) for blades up to 22 mm in width and 145mm (30mm dia) for blades wider than 25 mm
  • Internal steel ferrule to prevent handle splitting
  • All chisels are marked STUBAI and supplied in a PVC bag
  • Strict quality inspection at every stage of the manufacturing process

For other dimensions and further information, please refer to the STUBAI catalogue on our web site. For a quote, send an e-mail to [email protected]

Suggestion of the Boss: If you are a beginner, sign up first for a practical course in woodcarving. You will get familiarized with this activity and you will be able to choose the right tools later.

Boss advice: for sharpening, prefer the traditional method for the following reasons:

  • Longer blade life
  • No risk to affect the heat treatment
  • Easier to keep the geometry of the blade
