In 1897, some master swordsmiths of the Austrian Tyrol joined together to found what has become today the STUBAI brand, synonymous of high quality tools for woodcarving and woodturning.

Series 52 offered by STUBAI has all the required features:
- Its intermediate length from 20 to 24cm gives the user a feeling of better control, especially to those with smaller hands
- Octagonal beech wood handle for a firmer and more comfortable grip. Available in 5 lengths: 100mm for blades up to 12mm wide, 110mm for blades up to 22mm wide, 120mm for blades up to 35mm wide, 130mm for blades up to 45mm wide and 140mm for blades greater than 50mm wide with 25/30mm diameter depending on the length
- Hand forged blade guarantees highest quality and a long tool life
- Top quality special steel alloy allows high edge-holding ability
- Special heat treatment that guaranties a hardness index of 58-60 HRC (Rockwell)
- Finely ground inside sweep for easy sharpening
- All chisels are marked STUBAI with hand sharpened cutting edge ready to be used
- Internal steel ferrule to prevent handle splitting
- Strict quality inspection at every stage of the manufacturing process

It is an ideal set for beginners who want to have a kit of professional quality tools at a reasonable price in order to test their tastes and abilities.
These 52 series tools have much the same technical features as the 55 series, with the exception that they are shorter, smaller and have not been polished (bronze colour).
